FAQ

Frequently asked questions and all the answers to them

What to Expect:

Is it okay that I have never played Dungeons and Dragons before?

Yes! These drop-in games are designed for new players to be able to come in and try the game with no pressure and a DM who knows the game inside and out

Do I need to bring anything?

If you have a favourite dice set or your character sheet if you know how to make it, otherwise just a pencil and maybe some scrap paper.

Do I need to have my own character sheet?

Ideally yes, but actually no! If you don’t have a sheet just come by a little bit earlier and we can help you put one together.

Do I need to bring my own Mini?

You can if you would like, Kimberly also has a selection of painted minis you can look through and choose from.

What is “Inspiration” and why do I get it if I dress up?

Inspiration is something in-game to use as a luck point. If you have one and roll a critical fail or low roll, you can use it and roll again to try and get a higher roll. You start the game with inspiration because dressing up shows that you are in character, ready to play and bringing the fun with you! This is meant to encourage roleplay and feel more immersed.

Are there any house rules I should know about?

Yes! There are three major rules to know about
1. If your dice rolls off the table, you automatically crit fail, if you can’t hit the table, your character can’t hit what they are trying to do.
2. When your character goes down (starts to die) if they come back up, they will gain a point of exhaustion. After so many points in a row, you die for real.
3. You can share inspiration points among the party, this is a team game!

Are kids allowed?

There is a youth game specifically for kids! For your private games you can have a mix of adults and kids as you like, but, unfortunately, kids cannot come to adult drop-ins.

Is there a virtual game option?

At this time there are no virtual games, although if this was to change in the future, it would be found on the event page under the “virtual event” category.

Is this a good way to make friends?

Yes! What better way to make new friends than to save the world together? The weekly drop-in games are a sure way to get to know everyone better and have a great time.

DM Coaching:

I have never been a DM before, is this okay?

Absolutely! Kimberly has a starting point for new DMs or she can into directly what you are looking for help with.

I want to practise my one-shot, is this allowed?

Yes! Having put together loads of games, Kimberly can help you iron out any kinks you have before you run the game for your players, or even sit in on a game to help give you a confidence boost.

Is this possible online?

Although not the same as the in-person experience, this service is available over video call.

Pricing:

How much does it cost for an average game?

All the game types have an “average” under the drop-down on the services page, you can reach out directly to get more specific information for your event on the contact page or take a look at the drop-in games listed on the event page.

Do you offer a discount for a longer-term game?

There is an option for a long-term payment paid in a larger amount at a time, it’s mentioned under the “Campaign” section of the services page. This option is not currently available for drop-in games.

I own a venue and am interested in a regularly scheduled game here, how do I go about this?

First, think about how often you want the game to be. Either once a month or once a week is generally the best, then contact us directly for a more in-depth conversation.
